Templates

Bring your approved WhatsApp templates into Wazline and use them in campaigns, chats and the API.

A template is a message format that Meta has approved. WhatsApp requires one whenever a business starts or re-opens a conversation — for campaigns, for re-initiating a closed chat and for template sends through the API.

Create templates in WhatsApp Manager

Templates are created and submitted for approval in Meta’s WhatsApp Manager, in the business account connected to your number. Meta usually reviews a template within minutes, but it can take longer.

Sync them into Wazline

  1. Open Bulk Messaging → View Template, or the template step of a new campaign.
  2. Click Sync Templates.

Wazline lists each template with its status and a preview. Templates also sync automatically every two hours, so use Sync Templates when you want a new or changed template straight away.

Statuses

Only Approved templates can be sent. Templates that are pending, rejected or paused are listed with their status, but you can’t select them.

Variables

Templates can contain variables such as {{1}} and {{2}}, which are filled in when the message is sent.

  • API — pass the values in the params array, in order. See Send a template message.
  • Campaigns — a campaign sends the same message to every contact and doesn’t fill variables, so use templates without variables for campaigns.

Note: Templates with an image header are sent with your workspace’s default header image.

Naming

Use the exact template name from WhatsApp Manager — for example order_confirmation — when you refer to a template in the API. Template names can’t be changed once created, so pick clear, stable names.
